Independent.ie Well, this will be interesting if the original report about Greece prepping to issue these I.O.U.s is true. All money is ultimately worthless, really. It's just a dream that it has actual value. Money is merely an extension of the social contract. When one starts trying to attach actual to money, such as the price of gold, then society ends up in odd places, where what should be valued is dismissed, and what should be dismissed is venerated.
